Kodak Flik HD10 Smart Projector review

Kodak Flik HD10 Smart Projector review

The way we now consume the latest blockbusters in our digital age has led many Hollywood directors to lament that their widescreen epics, often shot exclusively for tower block-sized formats like IMAX were not meant to be viewed only on tablets or mobile phones.

So here’s a tool that allows us to liberate such imagery from our tiny screens and enjoy it on a larger scale – and maybe even give our smartphone video clips a more cinematic destination. The budget-priced, family-targeted Kodak Flick HD10 Smart Projector can produce images ranging in size from a 40-inch movie poster to a massive 150-inch home cinema style. Provided we have a blank wall, or a portable projection screen large enough.

key features

Image resolution should be near the top of our checklist if we’re in the market for a portable projector. With the Kodak Flick HD10 Smart Projector, we get perfectly acceptable Full HD 1920×1080 with a standard 16:9 widescreen ratio instead of 4K or 8K. Estimated screen size runs between the aforementioned 40 inches to 150 inches, again while maintaining full resolution. Accompanying sound is provided through dual five-watt speakers. While the default aspect ratio is 16:9, there is a boxier 4:3 option if desired and the projection space is tight.

The projector’s Dalek-like lens is manually focused via a large and articulated peaking wheel on top of the unit. While focus can be adjusted from a stationary position, the size of the projected image cannot be whatever aspect ratio we have chosen – it is simply a matter of moving the whole unit closer to or further from the surface it is projected onto. But we are doing the project. – and readjusting the focus accordingly – to get a bigger or smaller screen size.
